Coronavirus fatalities in Bangladesh have risen to 283 with 14 new deaths in the last 24 hours till Thursday.
Besides, 1,041 more Covid-19 cases were reported in the country during the period, taking the total to 18,863.
“Among the dead patients, 11 are male and three female. Nine of them resided in Dhaka and five in Chattogram. Five of them were aged above 50,” Additional Director General of Health Directorate Professor Dr Nasima Sultana made the disclosure during a virtual briefing today.
“Some 7,837 samples were collected in last 24 hours and 7,392 samples were tested. A total of 1,51,930 samples have been tested so far in the country,” Dr Nasima added.
Prof Nasima said samples were tested in 41 labs across the country in the last 24 hours.
On Wednesday, Bangladesh reported record 19 deaths from coronavirus and highest 1,162 cases.
Meanwhile, the global death toll from coronavirus has stood at 298,165 as of Thursday morning. Besides, it has so far infected 4,428,236 people around the world, according to data compiled by Worldometer. Currently, 2,472,248 confirmed COVID-19 patients are being treated and 45,920 of them are in serious or critical condition.
So far 1,657,905 patients have recovered from the deadly disease.
The virus is currently affecting 212 countries and territories around the world and two international conveyances.
