Coronavirus: Death toll tops 500 in the country, 1,975 more people tested positive

Bangladesh reported 21 more deaths from coronavirus in the past 24 hours till Monday, taking the death toll in the country to 501.

Besides, 1,975 more people tested positive for the virus, which is the highest single-day record of new infections in the country, making 35,585 confirmed cases in total.

Additional Director General (Admin) of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) Dr Nasima Sultana revealed the information at a regular online briefing on Monday.

Dr Nasima mentioned that a total of 11,541 samples were collected and 9,451 tested in the last 24 hours. So far, a total of 2,53,034 samples have been tested in the country.

With 433 new recoveries, a total of 7334 patients recovered from coronavirus till date.
