Bangladesh reports 21 more deaths, 1,166 new positive cases
Bangladesh reported 21 more deaths from coronavirus in the last 24 hours till Tuesday, taking the death toll in the country to 522.
Besides, the country has now 36,751 confirmed coronavirus cases with further 1,166 reported during the period.
Additional Director General (Admin) of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) Dr Nasima Sultana revealed the information at a regular online briefing on Tuesday afternoon.
Dr Nasima mentioned that a total of 4,416 samples were collected and 5,407 tested in the last 24 hours. So far, a total of 2,58,441 samples have been tested in the country.
With 245 new recoveries, a total of 7,579 patients recovered from coronavirus till date.
Among the 14 deceased, 14 were males and 7 females. They belonged to the following age groups: one was between 01-10 years, one between 11-20 years, two were between 31-40 years, five between 41-50, seven aged between 51-60, three between 61-70, one between 71-80 and one was between 81-90.
20 of the deceased breathed their last while undergoing treatment at various hospitals while one died at home.
Under division-wise categorisation, 15 hailed from the Dhaka division, 4 from Chattogram and 1 from the Barishal division.
