Highest single-day 28 deaths from coronavirus in Bangladesh, 1764 new cases

The country today confirmed  highest single-day 28 deaths from the novel coronavirus and 1,764 new cases of infection in the last 24 hours.

With this, the death toll from the deadly virus rose to 610 and the number of total infections stood at 44,604.

“25 of the victims were male and three were female. Among the victims, 26 people died in the hospital and rest two died at their houses,” Additional Director General of Health Directorate Professor Dr Nasima Sultana made the disclosure during a virtual briefing today.

A total of 9,987 samples have been tested at 50 authorised coronavirus testing labs across the country including the Institute of Epidemiology Disease Control And Research (IEDCR) over the last 24 hours.

Besides, 360 new people have recovered from the novel coronavirus over the past 24 hours, raising the total number of recoveries in the country to 9,375, the health official said.

Dr Nasima further said, “Among the dead patients, 18 of them died at different hospitals in Dhaka city, seven in Chattogram Division and two in Rangpur and one in Sylhet division.”

The virus has killed 367,114 people globally and infected 6,045,432 so far.
