Bangladesh reports 2381 new cases, 22 more deaths from coronavirus
The country today confirmed 22 more deaths from the novel coronavirus and 2381 new cases of infection in the last 24 hours.
With this, the death toll from the deadly virus rose to 672 and the number of total infections stood at 49,534.
“Among the dead patients, 19 are male and three female. 11 of them are from Dhaka division, eight from Chattogram, one each from Sylhet and Barishal,” Additional Director General of Health Directorate Profe Nasima Sultana made the disclosure during a virtual briefing today.
However, 15 of the patients died at different hospitals, six at their respective homes and one was diagnosed with the infection after death.
“13,104 samples were collected in last 24 hours and 11,439 were tested. A total of 320,369 samples have been tested so far in the country after the pandemic broke out,” she added.
Besides, 816 patients recovered during the time, increasing the tally to 10,597.
According to the latest data by DGHS, 21,39% coronavirus infected patients have recovered and some 1.36% died. However, the infection rate has been 20.81% today.
Currently, 59,136 people are quarantined across the country – including 2,707 newly-quarantined individuals. A total of 228,743 people have completed their quarantine course.
