Coronavirus cases in Bangladesh rose to 1,56, 391 on Friday as the health authorities detected 3,114 new cases in a span of 24 hours.
Forty-two more patients died from the disease, raising the death toll to 1968.
Besides, 1,606 more people made recovery during the same period. The total number of recoveries has reached 68,048.
Additional Director General of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) Prof Dr Nasima Sultana came up with the disclosure at its daily health bulletin.
She said 14,650 samples were tested in different laboratories across the country.
Bangladesh reported its first cases on March 8. The number of cases has spiked in recent weeks.
