Coronavirus: Bangladesh reports 29 more deaths, 3288 new cases
The country today confirmed 29 more deaths from coronavirus (COVID-19) and 3288 new cases of infection in the last 24 hours.
With this, the death toll from the deadly virus rose to 1,997 and the number of total infections stood at 159,679.
DGHS Additional Director General (administration) Prof Nasima Sultana came up with the disclosure joining the daily health bulletin of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) online on Saturday.
A total of 14,787 samples have been tested at 64 authorized coronavirus testing labs across the country over the last 24 hours. Of these, 3288 have been diagnosed with coronavirus, bringing the total number of positive cases to 1,59,679, she said.
Meanwhile, 2673 more people have recovered from the novel coronavirus in the last 24 hours, raising the total number of recoveries in the country to 70,721, the health official said.
The first coronavirus death was reported in the country on March 18, ten days after the detection of the first COVID-19 cases.
The coronavirus, that first reported in China late last year, is now affecting 213 countries and territories around the world and two international conveyances. As of Saturday afternoon, a total of 11,204,873 people has been diagnosed with the virus worldwide, as the death toll rises to 529,380 while 6,345,233 patients have recovered, according to worldometers data.
