Mountaineer Reshma killed in road crash
Bangladeshi mountaineer Reshma Nahar Ratna, 34, has been killed in a road accident on Friday morning as a private car ran over her while cycling on Lake Road near Jatiya Sangsad in the capital.
Officer in charge of Sher-e-Bangla Nagar police station Mohammad Abul Kalam Azad said the incident took place at around 9:00 am in front of the Chandrima Udyan bridge. The private car hit her while Reshma was cycling along in the area, leaving her injured.
After the accident, Pedestrians rescued her and rushed her to the emergency department of Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital where the doctor on duty declared her dead, He said.
In 2019, Reshma successfully summited two mountains named Stok Kanri (6153 meter) on August 24 and Kang Yatse -2 (6250 meter) on August 30 in Ladakh, India, where she carried the national flag of Bangladesh. She was also a teacher at a school in Dhanmondi.
