Bangladesh today confirmed 27 more deaths from the novel coronavirus and 2,851 new cases of infection testing 12,699 samples in 24 hours till Friday 8am.
With this, the death toll from the deadly virus rose to 3,333 and the number of total infections stood at 2,52,502. Some 1,760 patients cured during this time.
Additional Director General of Health Directorate Nasima Sultana made the disclosure during a virtual briefing today.
The virus has killed 717,918 people globally and infected 19,272,197 so far.
Bangladesh reported its first cases on March 8. The number of cases has spiked in recent weeks.
Coronavirus cases were first reported in China in December last year.
The World Health Organisation (WHO) declared the coronavirus crisis a pandemic on March 11.
