Bangladesh reports 3,141 new cases, 32 more deaths from coronavirus

Bangladesh health authorities today confirmed the detection of 3,141 new coronavirus patients in the span of 24 hours, raising the total number to 87,520.

Besides, the death toll stands at 1,171 as 32 more people died from COVID-19 during the same period.

DGHS Additional Director General (administration) Prof Nasima Sultana came up with the disclosure joining the daily health bulletin of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) through online on Sunday.

A total of 14,505 samples have been tested at 60 authorised coronavirus testing labs across the country over the last 24 hours. Of these, 3141 have been diagnosed with coronavirus, bringing the total number of positive cases to 87,520, she said.

Besides, 903 new people have recovered from the novel coronavirus over the past 24 hours, raising the total number of recoveries in the country to 18,730, the health official said.

The first coronavirus death was reported in the country on March 18, ten days after detection of the first COVID-19 cases.

The coronavirus, that first reported in China late last year, is now affecting 213 countries and territories around the world and two international conveyances. As of Sunday afternoon, a total of 7,884,904 people have been diagnosed with the virus worldwide, as the death toll rises to 432,638 while 4,050,004 patients have recovered, according to worldometers data.
