Coronavirus: 39 more deaths in 24 hours, 3531 new infected

Today the country confirmed 39 more deaths from the novel coronavirus in Bangladesh confirmed and 3,531 new cases of infection in the last 24 hours.

With this, the death toll from the deadly virus rose to 1,464 and the number of total infections stood at 112,306. Some 1,084patients cured during this time.

DGHS Additional Director General (administration) Prof Nasima Sultana came up with the disclosure joining the daily health bulletin of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) through online on Sunday.

A total of 15,585 samples have been tested at 60 authorised coronavirus testing labs across the country over the last 24 hours. Of these, 3531 have been diagnosed with coronavirus, bringing the total number of positive cases to 1,12,306, she said.

Meanwhile, 1084 more people have recovered from the novel coronavirus in the last 24 hours, raising the total number of recoveries in the country to 44,077, the health official said.

The first coronavirus death was reported in the country on March 18, ten days after detection of the first COVID-19 cases.

The coronavirus, that first reported in China late last year, is now affecting 213 countries and territories around the world and two international conveyances. As of Sunday afternoon, a total of 8,931,812 people have been diagnosed with the virus worldwide, as the death toll rises to 467,011 while 4,749,544 patients have recovered, according to worldometers data.
